Is
Breakfast Good For Losing Weight? Discover The Truth Today.
The
new year has just begun, we are already in 2012. Like each and
every year, millions of people around the globe make new year
resolutions and one of the most popular ones is how to lose weight.
Obesity and overweight issues are raging in the world and it's
time for concern for many. Without proper attention to this serious
issue, you are jeopardizing your life because life expectancy
is dramatically reduced.
Let's
face it, being overweight or obese although it can be due to
genetics is mostly attributed to a sedentary lifestyle that
is lack of physical activity and also poor nutrition. Exercising
is definitely crucial, you can't expect to lose 10 pounds simply
by watching TV. Exercising is good for you not only to lose
weight but to be fit and healthy as well. Secondly, if you keep
following your poor nutrition routine, you're already losing
the weight loss battle beforehand or making it really difficult.
By poor nutrition, for example, you can be skipping breakfast
or eating practically nothing. If your goal is to lose weight,
it's imperative that you eat a solid and healthy breakfast.
So stop asking yourself this question time and time again "Is
Breakfast Good For Losing Weight?". A nutritious breakfast
will bring you many benefits in your weight loss goals. Here
is why:
(1)
After a good night sleep, your body has been deprived of food
for several hours. Your metabolism and energy levels have dropped.
Eating a good breakfast in the morning will kick your metabolism
into high gear, recharge your batteries by elevating your energy
levels and boost your fat burning furnace as well.
(2)
Don't simply think that since you're skipping breakfast, you're
avoiding calories so this means faster weight loss. Skipping
breakfast would mean starving yourself a bit because in the
next few hours after waking up, you will be hungry. If you're
at work and waiting for lunch for your first meal, it's already
couple of hours. Most probably you'll grab a quick bite or snacking
to appease hunger. Then for lunch time, you'll be very hungry
and can easily overeat. End result is you've accomplished nothing
by skipping breakfast. It's true it's difficult to eat in the
morning but wait at least 15-30 minutes before breakfast upon
waking up. Don't have time to prepare breakfast? That's just
an excuse, if you organize yourself well, there is always time.
If you want to lose weight, you need to have the willpower and
you'll accomplish great things.
A
good breakfast prevents you from starving yourself till lunch
time and gives you the required energy to kickstart your daily
activities which is important to lose weight. You don't want
to start the day with a sluggish metabolism as well. You don't
need to eat quantity for breakfast but quality is enough. So
what makes a good breakfast? Usually foods low in calories but
filling and nutritious. Some complex carbs like rolled oats,
oatbran, wholegrain oats, wholewheat toast, some protein(eggs
are popular for breakfast) and some vitamin C, whatever you
have like oranges, blueberries, kiwis, bananas, strawberries
etc
. will do. For some omega-3, you can have one flaxseed
or fish oil capsule rich in essential fatty acids beneficial
for losing weight.
One
of my favorite breakfast is some wholegrain oats with some low
fat milk(Add a splash of honey for taste), 2 whole eggs(either
boiled, scrambled, poached, omelette) and a fruit like an orange
or banana plus 1 flaxseed or fish oil capsule with a glass of
water to wash it down. You can also add one low fat yoghurt
into your breakfast but it's optional. This is a healthy, nourishing
and copious breakfast and took me only 15 minutes to prepare.
In fact, you should not be scared of eating a filling and copious
breakfast because this is the most important meal of the day.
You'll need the energy to pursue your activities. Heard about
this quotation? Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince
and dinner like a pauper. This is how you should eat but most
of the time, people tend to eat more for dinner since they have
more time but that's not recommended for people with weight
loss goals.
Contrary
to popular belief by some misinformed people, breakfast is in
fact very important for losing weight and not the other way
round. Eat normally at regular intervals, what I mean by this
is don't skip meals, take your 3 meals per day even 4 and exercise
at least 3-4 times per week. Eat quality, nutritious and fat-burning
foods and control your meal portions that's the key for losing
weight. Never ask yourself this question again "Is Breakfast
